History is the study of past events, and its a very popular and important subject. Any history nerd could tell you what the Roman Empire was, the Qin dynasty, the Aztecs, India, etc... But ask about the African kingdoms, people, literature, architecture pre-colonialisation and you'll get head scratches.

It makes sense why, Europe and Asia generally have cultures and people that were either never colonised or reclaimed their culture after the fact, their scholars have interest in their history and teach them in the curriculum. They were the winners of history that wrote the narrative. However in Africa, the right conditions allowed it so that this myth that we've done nothing before 1850 is so internalised we don't teach otherwise. Very very few scholars are interested in our history, and I haven't found one place that properly talks about it, so I made this database. Enjoy!
